100 Days 100 Blocks Sew-Along

Hi again! It's Mona here - just wanted to talk about one of the projects I'm working on right now.

I love Instagram - being able to scan through all kinds of photos and see everyone is doing. I remember last year coming across a hashtag where everyone was doing a different block each day. Of course, it didn't hurt that there were prizes involved (I'm very prize-motivated!). I found out that all of the participants were following along to Tula Pink's City Sampler: 100 Modern Quilt Blocks book.  At that point in my sewing journey I knew that I would not be able to participate. First of all, I really don't like cutting fabric. Second, there were SO many little pieces! And, finally - it just seemed very intimidating to commit to something like this.

I watched all of the way through the sew-along, loving all of the blocks and seeing all of the different interpretations of the blocks. When I found out the GnomeAngel was doing it again, I knew I had to participate this year. So - I purchased the Tula Pink's City Sampler: 100 Modern Quilt Blocks book and decided I was going to use my stash of Cotton & Steel fabrics (one of my favorite fabric manufacturers).

As you can see in the first picture above, I had my book spiral bound so that it will lay flat. I went to my local printing company to get it done. You should be able to get this done at most office supply places.

Here are my first and second blocks:

I'm still a little intimidated - hoping that I'll be able to stay caught up. I'm trying to work ahead a little - getting my fabric cut out early and perhaps even sewing ahead a little.

It's day 2 right now - there's plenty of time to catch up on this if you're interested! Follow this hashtag on instagram: #100days100blocks2018 so that you can see all of the different blocks people are posting.

So - do you think that you're going to participate? If so - tag my on Instagram and let me know!

Until next time - blessings & peace - and happy crafting!
