March Blog Hop - #2019MonthlyColorChallenge

Hi everyone - it's Mona here with something fun!
Jen over at Patterns by Jen is having her second annual monthly color challenge. What is this? Jen shares a new block pattern every month with a color theme. 2019's theme is based on flowers. How fun!

I made the January and February blocks - you can see them on my Instagram page.

For March, the color theme is based on Love in a Mist (Navy Blue). I was really excited about that since blue is one of my favorite colors. I used a navy Grunge by Basic Grey for Moda. I also used a blue heart fabric from The Good Life line by Bonnie & Camille for Moda. (If you're shopping for fabric, check out my post on "Saving Money on Fabric & Sewing Supplies".)

The pattern is written really well. I noticed when assembling my block that my heart fabric was a directional fabric. In order to get the hearts going the same direction in the whole block, I needed to make one change to the pattern: When making your HST's, mark each of the directional fabrics on opposite diagonals. That will allow you to get everything pointing in the same direction!
